He raises the gun silently, a still calmness that masks his absolute fury.
Raw anger, bitter regret for what he didn’t do, for what he didn’t acknowledge.
Only a few times has he ignored that feeling, that sense that something’s wrong.
Now, the knowledge that he should have listened churns in his stomach.
He holds it steady, waiting for nothing. No excuses. Fuck that.
At the moment he curls his fingers, pulling the trigger, a wave of despair consumes him.
It shouldn’t have ended like this. And this death adds to the count. It won’t bring him back.
Nothing will.
