The loud smash startled all of them, the car careening wildly down the road.
Jack held onto the seat, grimacing as Bobby pushed down harder on the gas pedal.
“Bobby...just stop the car,” he pleaded.
“Put your seatbelt on, Jack!” Bobby ordered him harshly.
Bullets flew, the squeal of metal scraping. Jack trembled, his breath caught in his throat.
Gunshots, loud and fierce, crackle like lightening, booming thunder in the still night.
He inhaled, disbelief and fear filling him, his brothers panting with exertion, thrilled.
Words formed on his lips, his breath a choked cry. Just a bad dream…please God.
