Balloons and colorful streamers hang from the walls and ceiling. He remembers these days from before, before her. He remembers when his birthday meant nothing.
"Happy birthday dear Bobby..."
Presents, thoughtfully picked out, she'd ignored his protests that he was too old to celebrate, insisting that every birthday was important.
"Happy birthday to you...Blow out the candles and make a wish..."
