As much as it bothers me to not receive reviews on some of my stories, I am more annoyed by something that I have stumbled across over the past few days.

In several different fandoms, I have noticed an increase in writers who demand reviews before they write the next chapters, or worse, ones who bitch and complain over the fact that hardly anyone has reviewed.

It happens more on fanfiction.net or the adult version than on livejournal, but it's still irritating to see. Demanding that someone respond or you'll withhold chapters strikes me as terribly selfish and insecure.

Ok, that's my rant...sorry, just had to put it out there...

Well, if all I wanted were reviews, I'd write in bigger fandoms. I like the reviews do get, because they're from the heart. That's what matters, isn't it?

Exactly! I cherish the reviews I do get for many reasons.

I just don't like to see childish whining from authors demanding that more people review before they'll post more of their stories. If I see that written in the top of the stories, often I'll skip it just because it irritates me so much.

Oh, I *hate* that! It's so immature, like readers *owe* them something. It's as aggravating as readers who *demand* sequels, and for the same reason. Neither readers, artists, or writers can do their thing without each other!

This is supposed to be fun. If our work's good enough, We'll get reviews, eventually. If not, it's either still good, even without reviews; or it's...not good. But did we have fun writing it?

That should be the final question we all ask ourselves-are we having fun with whatever we're doing?
