"You can't go to war with Victor Sweet. Not straight up."
A tear escapes and rolls down Bobby's cheek. Jack's picture hangs on the wall near him, unscathed except for the bullet hole near his shoulder, the glass splintered and cracking.
Bobby feels a second tear zigzag along his cheek. His Jack, in the cold ground, alone again, no one there to chase the nightmares away. He prays that Jack has peace now.
He can't fix this, can't bring Jack back to him.
Regret, he feels hollow now. Guilt, it eats at him, mere seconds too late to fix this.
